Attaching an Awning Adapter
An adapter kit comes with a detailed manual that shows you precisely how to install the awning adapter on your camper or caravan. The installation process may vary depending on the brand and type of awning. Additionally, there are differences in the way wall awnings and roof awnings are attached. Generally, the mounting of the awning adapter follows these steps:
- Thoroughly clean the mounting area on the roof or wall of the camper or caravan.
- Attach alignment clamps to the mounting points on the roof of the camper or caravan or create mounting points on the wall of the camper or caravan.
- Mark the positions of the awning adapters on the roof or wall of the vehicle, ensuring they can be mounted in a straight line. Pay attention to any irregularities.
- Place a waterproof sealing rubber between the awning and the roof for a watertight seal.
- Apply a generous amount of >Sika 252 construction adhesive to the contact surfaces of the awning adapter.
- Position the adapter on the camper, caravan, or camper van and secure it with bolts if required by the type of awning adapter. Ensure the adapters are mounted in a straight line.
- Remove excess adhesive from the bonded surfaces.
- Allow the adhesive to dry, then mount and secure the awning.
