Inflatable Awnings

Are you tired of dealing with heavy tent poles when setting up your awning? Say goodbye to that hassle with an inflatable awning! By using a system of high-pressure air tubes, you can effortlessly set up a sturdy frame for your awning in a fraction of the time. The pump typically needs to be connected to just one point of the awning, and the air flows throughout the entire frame, making you more mobile than ever. With an inflatable awning, you no longer have to compromise on seating space when you want to travel around. Additionally, setting up the awning requires fewer hands compared to a traditional awning, as it can easily be done by one person.

Considerations for Choosing an Inflatable Awning

But which inflatable awning should you choose for your camper or caravan? We're here to help and have outlined some important considerations for you. If you need further assistance or have any questions, feel free to contact us.

  • Size: Determine the appropriate size of the awning for your caravan, camper, or motorhome. Our awnings come in different heights to accommodate various vehicle types. Pay attention to the connection height of the awning.
  • Orientation: Decide whether you want an awning that aligns parallel or perpendicular to your camper or caravan.
  • Space Requirements: Consider how much space you need in the awning. If you plan to camp in the autumn or spring, having extra living space is ideal for comfort during unfavorable weather. If there are children sleeping in the awning, having sufficient sleeping space is also important.
  • Seasonality: Determine the seasons in which you intend to use the awning. A summer-only awning can be made from lighter materials compared to one designed for autumn or winter camping.

Inflatable Awnings for Campers

Inflatable awnings for campers are often taller compared to those for camper vans or caravans. These awnings are typically designed for highline models and are best attached to a rail. The lightweight nature of inflatable awnings allows for increased loading capacity and space-saving in the garage. Setting up and dismantling an inflatable awning for a camper is incredibly easy, offering flexibility without compromising on space and protection. Most inflatable awnings can be left standing on the campsite while you drive your camper to a nearby village or supermarket.

Inflatable Awnings for Caravans

Inflatable awnings for caravans also provide weight savings, resulting in improved towing stability. Unlike traditional caravan-specific awnings, inflatable awnings do not have a specific circumference size. Instead, the awning rail is attached only to the top of the caravan. For caravans, midline awnings are commonly used.

Inflatable Awnings for Camper Vans

Inflatable awnings for camper vans allow for greater mobility. They can be set up and dismantled quickly, and their compact size eliminates the need for tent poles. This creates more space in your camper van for other belongings. Inflatable awnings significantly expand the living space and extend your camping season. They provide room for children or additional guests. Many inflatable awnings can stand independently, allowing them to remain at the campsite while the camper van is detached.

Are Inflatable Awnings Prone to Leaks?

Inflatable awnings are designed to be highly resistant to leaks. Our Outdoor Revolution inflatable awnings are equipped with air tubes featuring an overpressure valve. If the air pressure becomes too high, the valve automatically releases the excess air. Additionally, the air tubes are covered with a rigid and UV-resistant fabric, making them resistant to punctures from sharp objects. However, in the unlikely event that a leak does occur, the individual air tubes can be easily replaced with new ones.

Tent Carpets, Groundsheets, and Accessories for Inflatable Awnings

To enhance your comfort inside the awning, we recommend using a tent carpet. It provides a cozy atmosphere and adds a soft surface to the floor. Additionally, it helps keep dirt, dust, and water outside. For inflatable awnings, various other accessories are available, including extensions and inner tents.

Setting Up and Dismantling an Inflatable Awning

Setting up an inflatable awning is quick and easy compared to traditional awnings with tent poles. The same applies to dismantling it.

Setting Up an Inflatable Awning

  • If it's early or late in the camping season, attach a draft skirt first.
  • Take the inflatable awning out of the storage bag.
  • Unfold the awning, ensuring that the correct side is facing up.
  • Thread the beading through the awning rail, making sure it is fully inserted and properly aligned with your vehicle (e.g., check if the sliding door can still open and close). It's okay if the awning wall covers a window.
  • Secure the inflatable awning to the ground on the side of your camper, caravan, or motorhome. The closer to the vehicle, the better the seal. Tighten the straps on the tent pegs to ensure a firm attachment.
  • Before inflating, close the valves to prevent air from escaping. Attach the high-pressure pump to the valve and inflate the awning.
  • Pull the awning upright.
  • Zip up all doors and windows to secure the awning in an optimal position.
  • Secure the guy lines and/or straps, then anchor the base of the inflatable awning with additional pegs. Tighten the straps to prevent wind from getting underneath the tent.
  • Finally, attach the storm straps to ensure the awning remains stable during unexpected storms.
  • Overall, this process should take approximately 15 minutes, depending on the type of inflatable awning.

Dismantling an Inflatable Awning

  • Close all doors and windows.
  • Detach the guy lines and storm straps, and remove the pegs from the ground, storing them properly.
  • Press the valve to release the air and deflate the inflatable awning.
  • Detach the inflatable awning from your camper, caravan, or motorhome.
  • Remove any remaining air from the air tubes or use a pump with a deflation function.
  • If the awning is wet, allow it to dry before packing it up if possible. If not, make sure to thoroughly dry the awning once you return home to prevent mold formation.
